Layer 2 serves as a fail-safe to Layer 1. Magnifies axial disruption, further neutralizing the armor-piercing capabilities of projectiles.
Projectile's velocity is decreased more effectively, and backface deformation of Layer 3 is minimized due to the areal mass of the projectile's energy being distributed through a wider area to the final layer
